As a non-knitter, I've always admired from afar. How would you suggest beginning? Now that I am 76 and still a lover of beautiful wearable art, I'd like to try!

I'd start by looking for a yarn shop in your area--they LOVE helping beginners and can give you a hand with choosing yarn and needles for a pattern that isn't too hard (or too uninteresting haha!)

That will be quite the adventure in this land of quilters. I will drive 2 1/2 hours to Bismarck, North Dakota. I know I’ve seen a lovely yarn shop there..

Great ideas. Our local thrift store has a display of cufflinks and I have been debating how well they might work for pinning a shawl together.

FYI, there are several creators on Etsy selling "Leather Slap Bracelet Rulers" (I searched every descriptor I could imagine).

Good to know--I got a ton of hits with "leather ruler bracelet knitter" since I had no idea what to call them haha

Your video has made me want to make a rectangular shawl! I avoid that shawl shape because I'm clueless about how to wear one and not look strange. Thanks!

So when is your next KAL for a new rectangular shawl? The last one I knitted was the Great British Baking Shawl, which I gave to my chef sister in law.

Those buttons look like tuxedo shirt studs. I bet cufflinks would work, too.

I think this is my favorite of your MKAL designs. I got halfway through the Ghostbusters shawl 2 years ago and just picked it back up again. Can't wait to finish it!
