I'm kind of a puzzle nerd, and back at the beginning of the pandemic, one of the best purchases I ever made was a subscription to the NYT puzzle app--it has the crosswords, Wordle, Connections, and this thing called the Spelling Bee.
The Bee lets you spell words with 7 different letters, and the game has different levels--"Nice, Solid, Great, etc.." depending on how many words you come with (don't get me started on real, actual words that the game won't accept…).
Most days, I aim for Genius level without hints, but it's also fun to see what Bee stans are saying about the puzzle on social media. So when someone announced that they got GWOPGABM, I was all wtf? Google was zero help, so I asked what it meant (it's totally ok to be a newbie). "Genius WithOut Pangram All By Myself." Cool, I thought! Esp since the next day I got GWOPABMBC. The BC part is "before coffee.”
Anyhow, this weekend (on Saturday, June 8th) is WWKIP Day. World Wide Knit In Public Day is basically what it sounds like: If you feel like it, head outside with your knitting and go knit for a while. Just a fun day to celebrate knitting and fresh air.
And Ahem. WWKIP Day is just a few days before LKBDE: Lyrical Knits' BirthDay Extravaganza:) If you're looking for a project to work on, I can help you out with that--I'm hosting a Big Birthday Bash Sale on both Ravelry and Pay
hip. There's no code necessary, and you'll get 40% off anything and everything in the shop. I'll keep the sale running today through June 14th.
It's one of my biggest sales all year, so a good time to take advantage of it (and feel free to share the info--it's a public sale!).
Enjoy and stay tuned for more knitting fun coming up—including the annual Sweater-A-Long!
Lyrically Yours,
Mary
P.S. This sale is (NOT) SUPER SEKRIT . I'll announce it on Instagram, Ravelry, FB, and to my mom's bridge club, but for now, the only people who know about it are you, me, my neighbor's labradoodle, a Tuvan throat singer living in the wilds of the Himalayas, and possibly some random dude I met in the Dunkin’ Donuts line who liked my cowl.
P.P.S.Somethingorother…I'm heading off to Seattle tomorrow to prep for a fantastic Alaskan Inside Passage cruise with a group of fantastic knitters! I’ll be sure to post some pics later, but if you need to hear back from me, I might have spotty internet out on the ocean.
I found your email for years now and have bought a few knitting pieces. Today was the one I really loved..
KILLER QUEEN COWL
