I love knitting stranded colorwork, but, alas, I've got three storage bins FULL of knitted items. I'm taking a bit of a hiatus from it, but seeing your gorgeous work makes my fingers quite jealous! 😆
I'd love to take the cruise, but I'm just a poor public servant. How an anyone but millionaires afford these? Over $8,600 not including flights to and from departure location, a mandatory 18% tip for anything you buy on the boat, excursion fees and more. I just cannot even conceptualize having that much disposable income.
I’m a thrower and I do both colors on the right. It’s okay for normal stranded knitting (or ladder back), but for double knitting, OY. I’m working on a double knit cowl and can only take it a row or two at a time or I get cranky.
How interesting. I also hold both colors in my right hand but find double-knitting much easier than stranded. I wonder if it's a practice thing; I almost always have a double-knitting project on the go but only have a stranded project every few years. It sounds like you're the opposite
I actually really enjoy double knitting and hold the yarn the same way as I do stranded. DK takes some extra bandwidth with the charts, tho, doesn’t it?
For standard double-knitting I don't find it much different from any other charts that need different movements on each side. And for anything more complex (different patterns on each side for example) I chart those so that each stitch is visible in the appropriate color which takes away the "wait, which color should this stitch be?" What takes the extra time is the amount of stitches; double what would be in a single layer project. I have a bad habit of underestimating how long a double-knit project is going to take me lol "It's just a __; I can knit that in a week" Yeah, no, that never ends well 😂
Thank you!! I'm now able to watch my K-Dramas and knit at the same time!! Christmas and other holidays are arriving VERY soon. I have an ambitious schedule that involves knitting cashmere, cashmere/silk items for those who are precious to me, including small children (everyone deserves cashmere in their life). Also using machine washable yarns to knit for charities. Already knit a scarf!

I love how we arrive at the same destination in our own ways! ❤️
Exactly ❤️

Double knitting is a whole other level, isn’t it?!
